Youth Connections Radio

Youth Connections, part of YC Media started in 2009. It's an hour long radio program, aired of Coast FM 96.3 on a Monday night at 7pm. The program is for students- and is also made by the students. You can download a sample of the show here.

In association with Coast FM 96.3, students from all over the Central Coast will be able to have their voice, story, home grown music, poetry, issues, events and who knows what else,  heard on Youth Connections Radio on 2CCC-FM.

Thanks to MHIA Insurance who have donated YC Radio a Caravan, we also have an OB Van. This means we are able to cover events outside the studio. This gives the students the opportunity to learn how to set up, work and understand live broadcasting and give a wider knowledge to the industry.

Some events that YC Radio have covered with the OB Van are;

- 2009 Central Coast Cook Off.

- 2010 TLSC Surf Carnival.

- 2010 Youth Week Fashion Parade.

- 2010 Gosford Show.

Plus many more!

YC Radio Feature Reporter...

Meet the infamous Jonn the Weather Man
JTWMC
Our man Jonn has been researching the weather since 2005. For his 19th Birthday he was given

the ultimate pressie of unlimited access to the Bureau of Meteorology daily rainfall records.

You’ve never seen anyone more excited than our Jonn on the morning of the dust storm. He was jumping out of his skin with great gusto and equalled disappointment when it cleared.

Did you know...

Sydney's September 23rd dust Storm is the worst dust storm on record!

The last two major dust storms in Sydney were on November 16th 1944 when dust covered an area from Broken Hill to Sydney and October 16th 1944, which went from Cobar to Sydney.

That all the weather events that have been happening over the past 24hrs on the 23rd September 2009 are related to a cold front that was coming up from the Southern Ocean next week.

On October 7th it has been the wettest since i have been recoording the weather. I have already recorded around 55mm of rain.

So far this year we have only had 759.4mm of rainfall. As well as being wet this month it has been very cool too with the maximum temperature on the 1st October was 29 degrees and on the 3rd October it was only a chilly 16!

You can hear John the Weather Man every Monday night on COASTFM963 from 7pm on Youthconnections Radio
