YOUTH AND COMMUNITY GARDENS
These gardens aim to increase the awareness of environmental management systems that demonstrate ecologically sustainable behavior. Young people and the community conceive, design, develop and maintain the garden in collaboration with experts in natural resource management and through partnerships within the community. The gardens provide young people with the opportunity to learn important vocational and employability skills, connect them with their local community and help them to develop an understanding of their environment and natural systems.

CERTIFICATE 1 IN CONSERVATION AND LAND MANAGEMENT
This certificate is offered to young people and is earned in a natural garden that replicates natural ecosystems (that is, including elements such as diversity; succession; plant selection; habitat; mulch; and water sinks/ponds) and informed by indigenous land management practices and cultural perspectives. Field trips supplement learning activities and mentoring opportunities are available for participants. Mandatory course hours and an accreditation fee applies.
