Mentors for our Students Pilot Program
Youth Connections has been contracted to implement a Mentoring Program to assist students understand the relative skills, attitudes, training and experiences related to various Trade, Paraprofessional and Professional careers.
The careers being targeted are those identified in the Nation Wide skills shortage sector.
We are looking for mentors and students interested in the following:
Trades:

Professional and Paraprofessional:

Physiotherapist |

Childcare Coordinator |

Mentors can be recently retired or working within the established industry. They will be expected to involve themselves face to face with the students 1 hour per week for a minimum of a term, longer time frames are by mutual agreement.
Training in communication, and vocational topics will be given to mentors. Also additional material will be presented to assist in the development of the relationship between mentor and mentee. Youth Connections would like to see opportunities to visit workplaces to assist in the understanding of the Mentee.
Mentors are expected to share with the Mentee their experiences and assist in progressing the Mentee’s career plan.
A small remuneration package for out of pocket expenses will be presented for mentors who are involved for a minimum 3 month period.
Mentors will have to be cleared by the Australian Federal Police and NSW Dept of Education working with children checks.
